2v2 io Tips & Strategy
A practical strategy guide for 2v2 io: building cover before you fight, focusing fire with your AI partner, safe reloads, and using the shrinking storm to survive deeper waves.
Play 2v2 ioThe core idea
Cover plus focus fire beats raw aim
Almost every strong 2v2 io habit comes back to two ideas: never fight from the open, and never split your fire. Get those right and you will outlast enemies who click faster than you.
- 01
Build before you fight
Never open a fight standing in the open against two guns. Drop a wall in the direction you expect fire from, then step to its edge to shoot. The wall does not have to survive — it only has to soak the first exchange while you and your partner line up your shots.
- 02
Focus the same target
The whole point of 2v2 is trading two-on-one. Shoot whichever enemy your partner is already hitting so it goes down fast, then swing to the second. Two players spreading fire across both enemies is the most common reason a wave stalls and then collapses.
- 03
Reload on your terms
A manual reload freezes your gun for a full second. Do it right after a kill, behind a wall, or while repositioning — never while an enemy has a clean angle on you. If your magazine is above half and the fight is quiet, top it up before the next push.
- 04
Let the storm do the chasing
A low enemy sprinting for the edge is bait. Following them out trades your health to the ring for an uncertain kill. Hold the centre, keep pressure with fire, and the shrinking circle will bring them back to you at a disadvantage.
- 05
Keep one material in reserve
Materials cap at six and refill on their own, so spend walls freely — but always keep at least one banked. The wall you drop the instant an enemy pushes your position is worth more than any amount of pre-built cover.
- 06
Play the down, not the panic
If you get knocked down, the run is not over — your partner can still clear the wave and revive you. Watch the enemy count in the HUD. Two down means you are back next wave; one down means it is genuinely close and every enemy shot matters.
By wave
How the fight changes as waves climb
The rules never change, but enemy skill does. Adjust how much you rely on cover and patience as the run goes on.
Early waves (1–3)
Enemies are slow to react and spray wide. Use this window to learn wall placement and to practise calling targets with your partner. Bank materials and finish each wave near full health.
Mid waves (4–8)
Enemy aim tightens and they start building their own cover. Fights now revolve around breaking or flanking a wall. Do not push a dug-in duo head-on — make them come to you as the ring shrinks.
Deep waves (9+)
Enemies out-aim you in the open, full stop. Every engagement should start from cover, every reload should be hidden, and the storm should always be between you and the far side of the map, not behind you.
